Movie Nights: May 23, June 26 & July 24

Downtown at dusk is the place to be this summer! Bring a blanket or chair and take in a free movie under the starry skies. 

Saturday, May 23, 8:15pm – Big Hero 6

Stop by the park early to enjoy a day of free and ticketed activities, including inflatables and carousel rides, at our Family Funday from 4 – 8 pm. Then settle in for a showing of the Oscar-winning movie Big Hero 6 thanks to Heartland Bank. A limited supply of popcorn will be distributed prior to the movie, thanks to Heartland Bank as well. Heartland Bank is located Downtown near Columbus Commons at 101 S High St.

Big Hero 6 (2014) is rated PG and is 108 minutes long

CANCELED - Friday, June 26, 8:15 pm-  Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

UPDATE: Tonight's free movie is canceled due to weather. Stay dry!

Beginning at 5:30pm, families can enjoy kid-friendly activities at the Popcorn Pops event, including the Columbus Commons Inflatable Zone and a special music performance from the Columbus Symphony Orchestra for the kid in all of us. Tickets are required for the Columbus Commons Inflatable Zone and Popcorn Pops performance, available for purchase at the Columbus Symphony Orchestra website, but the movie at 8:15pm is free and open to the public. The movie is not part of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra Popcorn concert. The park will open for the movie at the conclusion of the concert.

A limited supply of popcorn will be distributed prior to the movie, thanks to Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shops, located in the Short North Arts District at 944 North High Street. 

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014) is rated PG and is 81 minutes long.

Friday, July 24, 8:15pm – Annie (the original)

Beginning at 5pm, families can enjoy kid-friendly activities at the Popcorn Pops event, including the Columbus Commons Inflatable Zone and a special music performance from the Columbus Symphony Orchestra for the kid in all of us. Tickets are required for the Columbus Commons Inflatable Zone and Popcorn Pops performance, available for purchase at the Columbus Symphony Orchestra website. The movie is not part of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra Popcorn concert. The movie at 8:15pm is free and open to the public and the park will open for the movie at the conclusion of the concert.

When attending a movie event at Columbus Commons, please feel welcome to bring the following:

  • Lawn or folding chairs
  • Breathable blankets
  • Picnic baskets (we reserve the right to search bags)
  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages (food and beverages will be sold at the event as well)
  • Bicycles, providing they are locked up at appropriate bike racks throughout the park.

The following items will not be permitted:

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Plastic tarps
  • Tents
  • Staked umbrellas

Parking

Park at the Columbus Commons Garages (55 E. Rich Street, 191 S. Third Street) for convenient, affordable parking just steps away from the park.
